I haven’t had a chance to post regularly of late because I have been rather busy with job-related things and finishing up a few (overdue) encyclopedia articles, but that should change soon, hopefully.
I am happy to say that I have been offered and have accepted a position at York University in Toronto, which will begin in the 2006-2007 school year. The position there will entail undergraduate teaching in the Religious Studies program of the Humanities department (especially in early Christianity, Judaism, and Greco-Roman religions), as well as graduate teaching in both the Humanities and in Ancient Greek and Roman History (which has a joint PhD program with the University of Toronto). So I am looking forward to all of that! It will also be nice to be closer to family, of course.
At the same time, I am sad to leave Concordia University, where my experiences with both students and colleagues have been very positive and rewarding. I will miss Montreal and Concordia, that is for sure, but the new position will be exciting as well.

I may be joining you soon then, Phil. You don’t think you can help out with the application processes, do you?

Congrats, Phil! That move will be great for you. Your exile is over!
And BTW thanks for the WordPress tips.

Hold on, Concordia has Peter Shultz - who is one of the best Classical archaeologists anywhere. Well done on the new job, but … I went to Florence with some Concordia undergrads last year, and they were brighter and far more enthusiastic than many of the Yale undergrads I’ve met. Concordia is not a bad place !
