This was set up in honor of . . . M. Aurelius Daphnus, son of a secretary, grandson of secretaries (?), . . . descendent of foremost secretaries, great-grandson and descendent of unique secretaries of the People, director of contests many times, unique secretary of the People, chief of police, overseer of the market, foremost commander, and Asiarch of the temples that are in Ephesos for the third time, demonstrating love of honor towards the homeland for thirteen days with thirty-nine pairs of gladiators fighting to the finish and, furthermore, slaying beasts from Libya. He was favored by the Augusti, and he wore the gold crown dressed in purple at the forefront of the procession. The friends of the Vedii who like weapons (philobēdioi philoploi) in this place honored him. Aurelius Reginus, friend of the emperor, took care of the honor.
